As part of the Accelerate strategic pillar, Vopak focuses on Battery Energy Storage (BES). These assets store electrical energy and connect directly to the electricity grid, charging and discharging energy to support reliable power supply and renewable energy integration.
Vopak is developing assets with discharge durations of up to four hours using lithium-ion battery technology, known as Short Duration Energy Storage. In addition, Vopak is developing Long Duration Energy Storage solutions with discharge durations of eight hours or more using technologies such as flow batteries, compressed air energy storage, and liquid air energy storage.
